Many thanks to everyone who took part in today's pre 'Tinsel n Turkey' XC ride from the Pines.

16 very enthusiastic ...considering it's Christmas eve... riders headed out from the bike shop along some off-piste muddy trails. We stopped off at the fish bowl for a bit of a play before we joined the Southwell trail out to Bilsthorpe.
After a short amble along this old railway line we hit the trail that winds around Cutts Wood. We were not the only ones to ride here as very recently the Moto X riders have been around too and they've well n truly cut the trails up into a bit of a mess -
Great for some off the pedal sideways action but no so great to pedal through.  That said everyone made it unscathed and grinning even if we all where a tad muckier than before we arrived.

Next up was the cheeky cut through along the top of Centre Parks and out to Edwinstowe. We crossed the railway line ...alas no Polar Express... and headed along the brook to cycle route 6. Tucking our arms in and dipping our heads we pedalled into the headwind that greeted us as we passed by the Dog n Duck pub. With gritted teeth we made it to Vicar Water where we were joined by a chap who was a tad lost and needed a hand to help him back to Pines.

We headed back into Pines via more off-piste single track including a trip down the must ride bomb holes and along last year's XC course back into the centre.

We'd enjoyed 16 miles of XC riding in pretty good conditions so it was definitely time for a hot drink and of course a piece of cake.

We hope everyone made it home safely and we'd like to wish all a very Merry Christmas.
